Hello, friend. I’ve been gone for a while. I didn’t finish my car trip series (although I plan to and I’ll write the posts and throw them up on the blog without any fanfare over the next couple of weeks) but lets move past that, shall we?
I get a bee in my bonnet every once in a while and when I do, blogging is the thing that suffers first. In October I decided to redo my living room. What should have been a quick project ended up being much too complicated and sucked up all my spare time. I’ll go into that another day. And during October and November I fell apart left and right. I’ll go into that another day as well.
But lets talk about today. My goal for this new year is a lofty one: to write every day. Not necessarily to post every day. But I will be putting my butt in the chair every morning, Monday through Friday, to get the work done. Apparently this is what one must do in order to summon the muses. Muses prefer people who will actually do the work.
I hope to make this a year of honesty. My blog is already very honest; I’ve never shied away from telling everyone my opinions. But I guess I mean it will be more authentic. Most people who are still blogging are aiming for something polished and perfect and without a flaw. They are hoping for a beautifully wrapped package that will appeal nicely to all the corporate sponsors. While that would be lovely, I think that sort of thing is the goal of younger people. I have reached an age where I am learning to be OK with my flaws and imperfections. Instead of trying to hide them like I might have done ten years ago, I’m learning to accept them and work with them.
Don’t get me wrong; I’m not about post non-photoshopped pictures and blather on about how much weight I’ve gained lately. I still have some self-respect! But it’s coming from a different place now. I want my blog to be a place where everyone feels like they belong. Wherever you are in your messy amazing life, please pull up a chair and look around because I want you to feel like my friend.
I know how to do a lot of things and I want us to fearlessly try new things together. That’s what this blog is about.
Looking forward to it! I loved your series on food storage and would be thrilled to see more info on that!
Also looking forward to hearing from you more often!
